The presentation of the study took place on 30 November 2023 and focused on the following topics:
- Aggregate assessment of the foreseeable demand and supply of rolling stock up to the year 2030;
- Overview of the relevant obstacles that may potentially impact the delivery of EU goals in rail transport;
- Analysis on whether it is necessary to incentivise rolling stock supply within the EU (including imports and/or domestic production).
The presentation was followed by questions from the Members and a stimulating debate where EU funding for rolling stock, digital technology implications, inefficiencies in production, and the wider objective of European competitiveness were discussed.
