[Digest] Workshop on Combined transport’s role in the decarbonisation of transport

The workshop took place on 25 October 2023 and focused on the following topics:

• Intermodal and combined transport: past trends and EU regulatory framework
• Scenarios for promoting and decarbonising combined transport and transport overall
• Combined transport in the context of TEN-T
• Case studies: the challenges for shippers and freight operators

The presentations looked at the contribution of combined transport to the decarbonisation of transport and provided expert input for the forthcoming revision of the Combined Transport Directive. The presentations were followed by questions from the Members and a stimulating debate where the challenges of greening freight through combined transport were discussed in details.
