The presentation of the study took place on 16 July 2025 and mainly focused on:
- the current state of play in the development of plant-based products that imitate seafood
- potentially misleading practices as regards the labelling of these products on the EU market
- national initiatives to tackle the issues generated by such practices
In addition, it discussed the recommendations of the study, which include a series of adjustments to the current EU legal framework, aiming to ensure that the labelling of novel products provides accurate information to consumers.
The presentation was followed by an interesting exchange with the Members and the European Commission.
