On 12 January 2026, the study ‘Mapping the housing needs in the EU, assessing the impacts of scarcity and providing an overview of relevant EU legislation’ was presented.

The presentation focused on the following topics:

• Main factors impacting the demand and supply of housing
• Financialisation and short-term rentals
• Social housing
• The role of EU legislation: European Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) & Energy Efficiency Directive (EED)
• Policy recommendations
