The workshop took place on 4 June 2026 and focused on the housing crisis that students and young people in training face in the EU. Three experts gave insights on key themes:
- Student housing affordability and availability – the current challenges in accessing adequate accommodation.
- Housing market pressures – particularly the role of purpose-built student accommodation, short-term rentals and the effects of financialisation.
- The European Affordable Housing Plan and policy responses – the potential of EU-level support measures and the need to share experiences and initiatives across Member States.
The presentations were followed by questions from Members and stimulating discussions on these topics.
