[Digest] TRAN Study presentation: The Combined Transport Directive

The presentation of the study took place on 2 December 2025 and focused on the following topics:

• The analysis of the network of intermodal freight terminals across the EU;
• The main connections between inland and port-based terminals and key European seaports;
• A dedicated analysis on the average distances travelled to and from intermodal terminals in four selected EU Member States: Germany, Lithuania, Italy and Spain.
• Infrastructure gaps and competition challenges in intermodal freight terminals.

The presentation was followed by questions from the Members and a stimulating debate.
