Subject of contract
Deliver a study on "Agricultural potential in carbon sequestration - Humus content of land used for agriculture and CO2 storage in soil"

The CAP will have to adapt the EU’s wider ambition to become climate neutral by 2050 and carbon sequestration is one of the key policy tools to be explored to mitigate climate change, as highlighted by the recently published Farm to Fork strategy (its Action 12 foresees an “EU carbon farming initiative” under the Climate Pact). While this study shall be delivered after the ongoing negotiations with the Council and the Commission for the 2021-2027 CAP have been finalized, it shall however prove useful to the Committee to think afresh on this complex issue and suggest possible adaptations to the CAP policy tools.

This study of around 80-100 pages (maximum) shall be delivered to the European Parliament's Agricultural Committee (COMAGRI) in December 2021.

The selected experts/research body/consortium shall have a relevant educational and professional background in agriculture, soil management techniques, agricultural economics and CAP instruments.
